The Inconvenient Truth About Microplastics

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration: "Plastic is the most prevalent type of marine debris found in our ocean and Great Lakes. Plastic debris can come in all shapes and sizes, but those that are less than five millimeters in length (or about the size of a sesame seed) are called “microplastics.”"

While microplasticsare found almost everywhere on the planet, the pollution associated with creating and disposing of plastics disproportionately affects communities of color, which is why we give a portion of our profits each year to environmental justice organizations.

This year, we will be sharing a portion of our profits with Rise St. James, the non-profit organization responsible for the Stop Formosa Campaign.

But it isn't enough to just "give back", we believe that being an ethical business means, from supply chain to shelf, you are treating the people who support the company ethically, by offering competitive wages and benefits. Stay tuned for more details on our partnership with the farms that produce your sponges!
